The Medication History Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for completing area-specific work according to standard processes and procedures, adhering to policies. This role serves as an expert with equipment and technology in a specialized area, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. The specialist ensures documents and records are accurate and completed in a timely fashion, supports communication and coordination with patients and the care team, and identifies quality improvement opportunities to ensure safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care. They provide input to and support the implementation of operational changes, advancements, and standardization. The specialist participates in specialized work teams, committees, and councils as applicable, and complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. They stay current with changes in the specialized field, collaborate with leadership to adopt best practices, and maintain updated knowledge and skills, contributing to the education of others. The role also contributes to pharmacy department initiatives and accepts assignments from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates.
