Pharmacy Technician II
About The Position
At Avera Heart Hospital, the Pharmacy Technician II assists the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care services for the hospital. The technician prepares and processes medications under pharmacist supervision, checks nursing units for proper medication storage, performs bulk compounding, and records patient or medication information in the computer for pharmacist validation as required by state law. The role also involves ordering, stocking, and transporting pharmaceutical supplies. The technician responds courteously and collaboratively to patients, families, visitors, and employees, considers unique patient needs, demonstrates age-specific competencies, and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment.

- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
