Pharmacy Technician II - Pharmacy - Term Full-Time - Anticipatory
About The Position
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the incumbent, as part of the Pharmacy team, performs complex duties such as manufacturing various sterile products, intravenous solutions, and chemotherapy; performs order entry duties; measures, manufactures, compounds, packages; organizes and distributes medications; assists with the purchasing and receiving; and performs other related duties. The position makes decisions with regard to: quantity of items packaged/compounded; quantities of medication required including compounded parenteral products; determines quantities of supplies stocked in dispensary inventory in consultation with Pharmacy Manager and performs purchasing/receiving duties as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods for various sterile products, intravenous solutions, and chemotherapy drugs and to measure, manufacture, compound, package, and distribute medications
- Analytical skills
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Basic computer skills, including typing
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary work team
- grade 12 diploma
- graduated from a nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician course including a hospital pharmacy practicum (or judged equivalent experience)
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years hospital pharmacy experience
- National Certification from the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC)
- registration with a Canadian College of Pharmacy
- Meditech experience
- 6-12 months, experience preparing chemotherapy
