About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician II assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. The Pharmacy Technician II works only under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Patience, positive attitude, cooperation, working well with others, friendly, problem-solving skills, analytical skills, attention to detail - thoroughness.
  • Attention to accuracy, organized, good communications skills (orally and in writing), ability to handle and work well under stress.
  • Good listening skills, good social skills, perform multiple tasks at one time, and can make quick accurate decisions.
  • Ability to evaluate medical literature.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Immunization certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.

Responsibilities

  • Enters prescriptions accurately, generates labels, and sorts orders by delivery method.
  • Selects the correct medication and dosage for patient containers.
  • Maintains and organizes inventory by rotating stock, identifying outdated items, and storing supplies correctly.
  • Ensures accurate restocking of medication dispensing areas.
  • Maintains thorough documentation, including logs and records, in compliance with standards.
  • Enters charges and credits accurately for patient medications.
  • Attends meetings, completes required competencies, and participates in ongoing training.
  • Always preserves patient and departmental confidentiality.
  • Provides responsive customer service by answering phones, addressing inquiries at the window, and demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Keeps pharmacy areas and equipment clean, neat, and well organized.
  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks to maintain efficient workflow.
