Join our Acute Care Pharmacy team! The Acute Care Pharmacy Technician team serves our inpatient locations at our main campus in Kansas City, Kansas, by supporting the distribution, compounding, and packaging of medications across our inpatient units. This critical role ensures that nurses and other providers have the medications they need to administer to patients while in the hospital. Current shift options listed below: - Days 7am - 3:30pm with rotating weekend commitment - Evenings 2:30pm - 11pm with rotating weekend commitment - Midnights 7:30pm - 7am with a 7 day on, 7 day off schedule Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Prepares medications for dispensing: Has above average efficiency while maintaining accuracy during preparation of sterile or non-sterile compounds. Uses knowledge and expertise to navigate the preparation of complex sterile compounds. Distributes medications and stock items: Pulls and stocks ADS machines with high accuracy and timeliness and above average efficiency. Monitors quantities on hand and par levels; escalates appropriately to support medication availability. Maintains Pharmacy Inventory: Escalates unusual use patterns appropriately. Monitors quantity on hand versus par levels and escalates appropriately. May order appropriate NDCs based on Epic medication list and ADS configuration. Operates pharmacy computer systems: Independently takes initiative to resolve / troubleshoot issues related to pharmacy computer systems. Contributes towards documents or files for internal communications, training/job aids, or other department needs. Compliance and recordkeeping: Identifies gaps in compliance and adherence to applicable regulatory and quality standards and escalates appropriately. Patient Care: Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers and staff to resolve routine service concerns. Provides accurate information about pharmacy processes while escalating clinical inquiries to a pharmacist. Conducts patient care activities with enhanced proficiency while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Medication Safety: Recognizes potential medication errors and reports and escalates appropriately. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
