About The Position

This position is responsible for developing competence in dispensing and delivery of medications, including the use of information systems, technology, and automation. The role involves preparing non-sterile products, entering medication orders, and managing phone calls from customers and team members. It also requires developing competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation to meet legal, regulatory, and department requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of employment.
  • PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) within 180 days of employment or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School.
  • Good mathematics skills.
  • Attention to details.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy Technology preferred.
  • One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • PTCB technician certification (CPhT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications.
  • Develops competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
  • Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
  • Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.
  • Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients, including accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
  • Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.
  • Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.
