The Pharmacy Clerk position is responsible for collecting patient information, answering questions accurately, accepting payments, and thanking all customers. This role involves entering information into the computer database as required by law and following all cash handling policies and procedures to ensure accurate cash, check, and credit card transactions. The clerk will also answer the telephone and refer callers to the appropriate personnel when needed. A key responsibility is maintaining the front end of the pharmacy, assisting with stock maintenance to ensure the availability of quality drug products and supplies. This includes performing or assisting with stocking and inventory of supplies and products, which involves unpacking, inspecting items for damage, ensuring accurate pricing, and correct put-away. Additionally, the clerk may assist with or set up merchandise displays, reconcile merchandise orders, and perform packaging, mailing, and cashiering for mailed prescriptions. Adherence to general pharmacy standards is expected to promote a cooperative work environment through communication and team building.
