Pharmacy Technician I
About The Position
The Department of Pharmacy Services at Baptist Health Lexington provides pharmaceutical services to patients across the continuum of care. Services include medication-order verification, drug distribution, sterile and hazardous drug preparation, and use of automated dispensing cabinets. Decentralized pharmacists also manage pharmacy dosing consults, provide drug information and therapeutic recommendations, and participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds. The Pharmacy Technician I accurately and efficiently processes and fills medication orders, delivers medications to nursing units, processes and receives wholesale orders correctly, and provides general assistance to pharmacists. The role calls for leadership, critical thinking, and working knowledge of technology.
Requirements
- Less than a high school education is listed.
- For Kentucky hospitals, register with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire if a new registrant; previously registered applicants must have registration upon hire.
- Obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification within six months.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently process and fill medication orders.
- Deliver medications from the pharmacy to nursing units and return items from nursing units as needed.
- Process and receive wholesale orders correctly.
- Demonstrate leadership and critical-thinking skills.
- Provide general assistance to pharmacist staff.
- Apply working knowledge of technology.
