About The Position

The registered pharmacy technician I works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work well with others in a team with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate the ability to respond positively in a stressful environment and meet the physical demands of the department.

Experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays and kits.
Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students.
Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas.
Repackages bulk medications.
Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriate.
Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.
Process medication charges/credits when applicable.
