About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I - Acute Care - Community, CAH, Behavioral Health is an entry level position. The Pharmacy Technician I will assist in accurate medication filling and record keeping to ensure timely delivery of medications. All work will completed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Note: This position is primarily Day shifts with the occasional evening shift.

Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Kansas locations: CPhT required by first board renewal
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Missouri locations: none
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire
  • Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications for dispensing with accuracy following processes as trained.
  • Follows all established procedures and safety protocols during routine daily workflows.
  • Passes annual sterile compounding competency.
  • Accurately pulls and stocks medications in ADS machines.
  • Ensures accuracy of ADS inventory through outdates, cycle counts, resolution of discrepancies and accurate barcode scanning.
  • Completes / Maintains distribution records as required.
  • Completes automation inspections.
  • Resolves common distribution issues such as jammed label printer, light bar, etc.
  • Performs procedures, such as loading/assigning and unloading/unassigning as trained.
  • Restocks pharmacy inventory in appropriate quantities.
  • Ensures appropriate rotation of inventory.
  • Identifies and removes expiring medication from pharmacy inventory.
  • Processes order upon receipt from wholesaler.
  • Completes monthly unit inspections as assigned.
  • Identifies when stock is low and follows order request process.
  • Independently operates organization and pharmacy technology systems following processes as trained.
  • Accurately maintains required logs and records following processes as trained.
  • Provides courteous, professional service when assisting patients, caregivers, and staff.
  • Directs medication-related or clinical questions to a pharmacist.
  • Accurately gathers and documents information.
  • Practices medication safety basics such as barcode scanning and double-checking labels; promptly reports discrepancies to pharmacists or leaders.
  • Consistently applies safety protocols.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
