About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I position is located in the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Flower Mound. This role involves the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications, utilizing technology where appropriate. The technician is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their own work, maintaining competencies, and adhering to departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards. This role also involves ongoing professional development, effective communication, training new employees, and contributing to the minimization of pharmaceutical costs and process efficiencies. Texas Health Flower Mound is a 99-bed acute-care facility committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-focused care in a compassionate environment.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months hospital experience is strongly preferred.
  • Other IV Certification Upon Hire is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
