About The Position

The pharmacy intern is responsible for assisting in the developing, implementing, and evaluating the pharmacy technician training program. This role ensures the program meets accreditation and regulatory requirements, prepares students for certification and workforce readiness, and fosters relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support clinical training experiences.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required, or combination of education and applicable work experience.
  • Current pharmacy student's eligible
  • 2-3 hospital pharmacy experience required
  • 1-2 years of pharmacy teaching experience
  • Pharmacy Tech certification (CPhT) required (through PTCB or AHA); or currently enrolled in Pharmacy school
  • Current NYS Registered Pharmacy Technician license and registration certificate preferred

Nice To Haves

  • IV admixture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight and Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve curriculum and instructional materials aligned with ASHP/ACPE accreditation standards and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the program maintains compliance with state and national certification and education requirements (e.g., ASHP/ACPE, PTCB, NHA).
  • Develop syllabi, lesson plans, lab simulations, and course assessments.
  • Coordinate student schedules, rotations, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Instructional Duties: Support as an instructor for core pharmacy technician courses and labs.
  • Provide mentorship, tutoring, and academic support to students.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Maintain program documentation for accreditation and audits.
  • Prepare and submit annual reports, curriculum updates, and site visit materials.
  • Industry Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with hospitals, community pharmacies, and other clinical sites for externship placements.
  • Monitor student progress during experiential training and coordinate preceptor evaluations.
