Cleveland Clinic’s School of Pharmacy Technology offers one of the few accredited, hospital-based Pharmacy Technician programs in the U.S. Through an 18-week accelerated apprenticeship, students receive hands-on training in inpatient and outpatient settings, learning skills such as medication preparation, distribution, inventory control, customer service, and recordkeeping. Graduates earn a diploma in Pharmacy Technology and are prepared to take the national certification exam. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday between 6:45am to 3:15pm. This position pay a flat rate of $17/hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy upon hire
  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
  • Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
