Cleveland Clinic’s School of Pharmacy Technology offers one of the few accredited, hospital-based Pharmacy Technician programs in the United States. As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will train under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, following established policies and procedures to support essential pharmacy operations. Through an intensive 16-week accelerated apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, developing skills in medication preparation, packaging, distribution, inventory control, customer service, and recordkeeping. Upon completion, graduates earn a diploma in Pharmacy Technology and are fully prepared to take the national certification exam. A caregiver in this role works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm in an 16-week program. This role pays a flat rate of $17/hour.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy upon hire
Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within one year of hire
Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
