A caregiver in this role will support pharmacy operations at the Middleburg Heights Family Health Center, which opened in October 2024. The caregiver will provide patient-focused pharmacy services, including filling and dispensing prescriptions, assisting patients with their medication needs, maintaining inventory and supporting drive-through operations. This role provides an opportunity to work in a newer ambulatory pharmacy while helping ensure patients receive timely, accurate and convenient pharmacy services. A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Thursday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM and Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. This role requires coverage for six single weekend days per year at Independence Pharmacy. The pharmacy is closed on holidays, with holiday coverage rotating among Independence Pharmacy caregivers as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
  • Registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
