About The Position

Bring your pharmacy expertise into an inpatient environment where precision, reliability, and teamwork directly support safe medication use across the hospital. Join UVA Health Inpatient Pharmacy in a role that extends well beyond traditional retail pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Technician 2, you will contribute to medication distribution, sterile and non-sterile preparation, inventory management, controlled substance workflows, and operational readiness for adult and pediatric patient care. Multiple inpatient practice areas and shift arrangements offer the opportunity to find the right fit for your experience and professional goals. This job posting supports recruitment across multiple inpatient pharmacy areas. By applying to this position, you will be considered for current and future opportunities across these areas based on your qualifications, experience, and the needs of the department. Pharmacy technicians are essential members of the inpatient care team. Although much of your work takes place behind the scenes, every medication prepared, packaged, stocked, and delivered helps clinicians provide timely, safe, and effective care. Your average day may include a combination of centralized pharmacy operations, medication distribution, inventory support, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, or sterile production. Depending on your assignment, you may work extensively in a clean room environment preparing IV medications, syringes, hazardous and non-hazardous products, and total parenteral nutrition for adult and pediatric populations. This is an active, detail-intensive role in a fast-paced academic medical center. Success requires adaptability, accuracy, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. At UVA Health, inpatient pharmacy technicians practice within an integrated academic health system where medication safety, clinical partnership, education, and continuous improvement are central to patient care. The University Medical Center is UVA Health’s academic flagship, connecting pharmacy professionals with complex hospital operations and multidisciplinary teams caring for diverse patient populations. You will join an inpatient pharmacy culture built around teamwork, accessible leadership, and open communication. Pharmacists, lead technicians, and department leaders are available throughout the week, creating an environment where questions are encouraged and employees are supported as they build confidence in new workflows.
