About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the daily operations of the pharmacy. This role is responsible for supporting the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established policies and regulations. For Retail areas, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications. The role involves handling day-to-day tasks such as processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing customer service. This entry-level position serves as a stepping stone to more advanced pharmacy technician roles.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required or obtained within 6 months of hire date (this requirement may be waived for current pharmacy students enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy)
- State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred
- Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
- 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility)
- Sterile compounding experience
- One-year of hospital experience
