About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician II assists pharmacists in preparing sterile and non-sterile medications and distributing medications. The position enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system; issues narcotics; restocks automated dispensing devices, surgery and floor stock areas, crash carts, and fire medic kits; processes patient charges and credits; and maintains the drug inventory. The technician works only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and does not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of pharmacy technician experience, or 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician I after receiving additional training.
• Pharmacy Technician Registration through the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
• National Technician Certification.

Nice To Haves

• College courses are desirable but not required.
