About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech II performs primarily sterile compounding and associated activities under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The role includes preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds, supporting inpatient medication dispensing, maintaining compounding work areas, and completing related documentation and account charges. The schedule is Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM on various shifts, with every third weekend required. The position is hourly and non-exempt.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Pharmacy technician certification.
Successful completion of media fill, didactic, and written testing on compounding sterile preparations.

Nice To Haves

One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize laminar flow bench surfaces, counters, and work surfaces.
Perform assigned monthly cleaning and document it as directed.
Set up the automated compounder and perform calibration checks as required by policy and procedure.
Compound low- and medium-risk sterile preparations in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
Prepare dilutions for neonatal compounded sterile preparations and label them appropriately with concentration and beyond-use dating.
Label compounded sterile preparations using correct storage labeling and beyond-use dating.
File completed PCA sheets, Pyxis reports, invoices, and other department records so they can be readily retrieved.
Enter patient account charges and credits from Pyxis reports, crash carts, and other records.
Prepare oral syringes according to policies and procedures and in a timely manner.
Assist with dispensing inpatient medications by filling unit dose and floor stock orders for pharmacist verification.
Perform non-sterile compounding according to policy and procedure and document all appropriate information.
Perform other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.
