About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. They fill and deliver medications, ensure adequate supplies are available, triage and escalate issues outside their scope, use appropriate systems for processing patient information, maintain quality assurance, and operate pharmacy equipment appropriately. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Nice To Haves

• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB)
• Previous Pharmacy Experience

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
