About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) North County is seeking a Pharmacy Supply Technician to join our pharmacy team in San Marcos, California. The Pharmacy Supply Technician assists the Supply Chain Coordinator and Pharmacy Department with inventory management, prescription processing, and pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmaceutical regulations.

Requirements

  • VASCP certification or willingness to obtain certification (employment contingent upon certification).
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience; veterinary pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Experience with Cubex inventory management systems is a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory management, including order review, returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
  • Perform prescription data entry, including patient and prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation, insurance billing, and issue resolution.
  • Accept customer and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions.
  • Obtain refill authorizations from veterinary providers as permitted by state law.
  • Retrieve medications from inventory as permitted by state law.
  • Create prescription labels and apply them to medication containers.
  • Prepare and package medications in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Complete prescription-related documentation and maintain accurate computer records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment.
  • Reconstitute oral liquid medications as permitted by state law.
  • Answer client medication questions and provide excellent customer service.
  • Support daily pharmacy operations and collaborate with the pharmacy team.
