About The Position

The Pharmacy Supervisor – Medication Access Programs provides operational and clinical leadership for centralized medication access services supporting infusion, specialty, and ambulatory medication access programs. This position directly supervises Medication Access Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and is responsible for medication access performance, therapy initiation, referral and site-of-care coordination, payer and reimbursement optimization, and patient access outcomes. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the supervisor functions as a staffing clinical pharmacist and actively participates in direct patient care and medication access operations to support service continuity, maintain clinical competency, and ensure timely, safe, and patient-centered access to therapy. The supervisor collaborates closely with providers, pharmacy, infusion operations, revenue cycle, patient assistance, payer relations, and technology teams to optimize access, improve patient and provider experience, and support enterprise performance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, or higher in Pharmacy (Required) or Program Graduate, If a foreign graduate of Pharmacy, has completed all requirements for equivalency as outlined by the National Associate of Board of Pharmacy (NABP). (Required)
  • 2 years Related Pharmacist experience in related practice setting (Required)
  • Licensed Pharmacist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) within 60 Days(Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year ASHP PGY1 residency training (Preferred)
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred (may be in an informal role) (Preferred)
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) - Board of Pharmacy Specialties (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership and direct supervision of centralized medication access services including staffing oversight, workload management, workflow optimization, quality performance, and daily operations
  • Lead medication access strategy and performance through referral governance, therapy initiation oversight, payer and reimbursement optimization, site-of-care coordination, and enterprise medication access initiatives
  • Coach, mentor, develop, and evaluate pharmacists and technicians while promoting accountability, engagement, professional growth, and team performance
  • Partner with providers, pharmacy, infusion operations, revenue cycle, patient assistance, payer relations, and technology teams to improve access outcomes, reduce barriers to care, and enhance patient and financial performance
  • Lead quality improvement, analytics, regulatory readiness, performance reporting, and workflow redesign initiatives to advance enterprise medication access goals
  • Function as a staffing clinical pharmacist and provide direct patient care through medication access operations, therapy plan development, clinical review, and issue resolution to support operational continuity and timely access to therapy
