About The Position

This is a dynamic "Working Supervisor" role where the individual balances high-level operational oversight with direct, hands-on patient care. The role involves driving the day-to-day coordination of Anticoagulation Management Services (AMS) operations, ensuring every patient experience is rooted in safety, precision, and world-class service. The supervisor will operate at the top of their license under a collaborative practice agreement, managing complex anticoagulation regimens and bridging therapies for the entire Carle Health network. They will serve as a definitive resource for providers and patients, providing education and clinical insights to optimize life-sustaining therapy. Additionally, the role includes mentoring staff and managing workflow demands to create a seamless, high-performing clinical environment.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with at least 3 years of experience
  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) | Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and delegation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and performance metrics analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations.
  • Pharmacist for at least 3 years

Nice To Haves

  • Anticoagulation management experience is preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pharmacists, technicians, interns, and residents; routinely assess performance during shifts and deploy resources to best meet patient care needs.
  • Create development plans, support individual goal achievement, monitor employee performance, and ensure timely communication regarding evaluations and personnel actions.
  • Perform personnel-related duties, including interviewing, hiring recommendations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, and payroll reporting.
  • Lead training of new employees and develop/maintain clinical competencies, training materials, and educational resources.
  • Ensure staff compliance with required training, certification, and competency standards; maintain documentation and report non-compliance.
  • Manage staff communications, hold regular meetings, and promote team engagement.
  • Monitor and track Total Time in Therapeutic Range (TTR), review AMS-specific emergency room/hospital admissions, and support departmental process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with the medical director to review anticoagulation management protocols to ensure patient therapeutic and safety goals are achieved.
  • Serve as a liaison between the East Region service line and AMS services in other regions to drive system-wide improvements.
  • Support the provision of services to other departments as relevant to the practice site.
  • Perform all duties of an AMS pharmacist as required to support clinical operations and continuity of care.
