The person in this position participates in the Pharmacy Practice Residency Program, a 12-month, full-time program that meets the ASHP Accreditation Standard. The resident is motivated and committed to the completion of the educational goals and objectives of the residency program and to the mission and values of UF Health The Villages. The resident also serves the following essential functions: provide service and guidance consistent with the mission and vision of the UF Health The Villages Department of Pharmacy Services and the Clinical Pharmacy Team; develops and demonstrates competency in all aspects of health-system pharmacy practice including pharmacotherapy, patient care, distributive services, drug information, formulary evaluation, policy development, and practice management; complete one or more outcome-oriented projects; during clinical practice experiences, demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, execute, and monitor pharmaceutical care plans designed to improve the quality of patient care while effectively utilizing resources; perform verbal and written communication through pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetic, and nutritional support consultations for physicians and other healthcare providers; provide pharmacists and pharmacy students with clinical education and training congruent with core competencies and educational objectives; during practice management experiences, demonstrate the ability to identify problems, make judgements, communicate effectively, and assume responsibility for the use of medications and the medication delivery system; demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of the pharmacy workload, human resource management, and the application of automated medication distribution systems; organize and maintain appropriate documentation of clinical and practice management activities for purposes of pharmacy management and hospital accreditation; observe and/or participate on UF Health The Villages multidisciplinary committees, such as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee; collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe medication use; modify performance and behavior based on evaluation and self-assessment; participate in department huddles, multidisciplinary communication, and nursing support; and participate in the pharmacy resident recruitment and selection processes.
