About The Position

The Pharmacy Laboratories Assistant supports sterile compounding laboratory activities within the MUSC College of Pharmacy. This temporary, hourly position plays a key role in preparing, maintaining, and supporting instructional laboratory environments and in teaching and training pharmacy students in sterile compounding practices, including compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards.

Requirements

A high school diploma and two years of experience or training within the specific work area.
Computer literacy.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

20 years of pharmacy technician experience
10 years of sterile compounding experience
Certification in CPR by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
An associate degree in dental hygiene and licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry.
Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays.

Responsibilities

Support the setup, operation, and breakdown of sterile compounding laboratory activities
Prepare laboratory spaces and materials to support instructional sessions
Teach and train pharmacy students in sterile compounding techniques and practices
Provide instruction and guidance on regulatory standards, including USP <797> and USP <800>, with emphasis on sterile and hazardous drug compounding
Support a safe, compliant, and effective laboratory learning environment
Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure laboratory readiness and instructional continuity
