Pharmacy Intern

CVS Health•Brooksville, FL
•$20 - $24

About The Position

CVS Health’s 3rd year Pharmacy Intern applies pharmacy-school learning in retail practice while preparing for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, the intern completes a comprehensive training roadmap involving Key Learning Experiences, activities, and time with district leaders, and gains an overview of store, district, and regional operations. The intern supports pharmacy operations so prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and patients receive caring service. The role follows standard operating procedures, best practices, and effective communication, and contributes to a safe, inclusive culture where people feel valued and empowered. With increasing tenure, the intern takes on greater responsibility for safe and effective pharmacy operations. Duties include supporting workflow at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations; assisting patients and responding to their needs; and, under pharmacist supervision and where legally permitted, offering counseling, handling medical questions, taking telephonic prescriptions, and contacting prescribers to clarify or facilitate prescription changes. The intern may also provide additional patient health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, when permitted by law and supported by required training and certification. Where permitted, the intern may pursue Technician Immunizer status and support vaccine preparation and administration. This can include educating patients, referring vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty, monitoring and responding to adverse reactions, and collecting and documenting patient information. The position requires regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and flexibility to work at other stores in the market as business needs require. This is a part-time position. The typical pay range is $20.00–$23.75. Eligible benefits and programs may include dental and vision coverage, wellness resources, employee discounts, and certain voluntary benefits, depending on hours worked and eligibility.
