About The Position

The Pharmacy Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting inpatient pharmacy operations at Fairview Hospital, a large acute care facility serving patients across inpatient medicine, surgical services, and specialty care. During the first year, interns receive training similar to pharmacy technicians and rotate through core pharmacy stations, including the medication carousel and IV room. Interns are encouraged to develop IV preparation skills and will receive IV training if needed; prior IV training is not required. Interns who continue into a second year may expand their experience to clinical activities such as medication histories, transitions of care, research, and quality assurance projects. Opportunities to shadow clinical pharmacists are also available to interns interested in clinical pharmacy practice. The internship is expected to begin in summer 2027, with the start date determined by candidate availability and ideally no later than mid-June 2027. The position continues into the academic year, with scheduling arranged around the caregiver’s availability. The caregiver works 8-hour day and evening shifts between 7:00 AM and 11:30 PM, with weekend coverage required every fourth weekend.
