Part-Time Pharmacy Intern
About The Position
Onco360 Pharmacy is an oncology pharmacy serving community, oncology and hematology physicians, patients, payers, and manufacturers. The Louisville, Kentucky pharmacy is hiring an onsite, part-time Pharmacy Intern for fewer than 30 hours per week, with flexible hours and days available. Pay is $24.00 to $33.00 per hour, based on completed years of pharmacy school. The intern assists with pharmacy operations and prescription activities in accordance with state and federal laws. Responsibilities include supporting pharmacists with dispensing, organizing and packaging prescription orders, assisting patients with co-payments and financial assistance programs, and coordinating medication refill deliveries with patients and physician office staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in pharmacy studies at an accredited university.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, brand and generic medication names, and general pharmacy terminology.
- Valid Pharmacy Intern license or permit for the state of Kentucky.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
Responsibilities
- Greet health care providers and patients by phone and respond to questions and requests.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, and ordering medications and supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform prescription activities in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Organize medications for pharmacist dispensing by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, adjudicating claims, and resolving rejections, including prior authorizations.
- Package and organize daily prescription orders.
- Assist patients with co-payments and financial assistance programs.
- Counsel patients regarding the Celgene REMS program.
- Assist the pharmacist with dispensing.
- Communicate with patients and physician office staff to coordinate medication refill deliveries.
