About The Position

The Pharmacy Intern prepares and assists in dispensing and distributing medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This includes oral preparations, intravenous medications, IV chemotherapy preparations, and total parenteral nutrition preparations. The role maintains pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with Safe Handling Practices; fills automated dispensing machines; assists with receiving supplies and preparing pharmaceutical orders; repackages unit-dose solid and liquid medications; and maintains and files records according to Roswell Park policies and procedures. This is a temporary, non-benefited, part-time position scheduled for 16 weekly hours on the first shift. The starting rate is $25.26 per hour.

Requirements

• Current New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy Doctoral program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist in dispensing and distributing oral medications, intravenous medications, IV chemotherapy preparations, and total parenteral nutrition preparations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Maintain pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with Safe Handling Practices.
• Fill automated dispensing machines, including Talyst, the Talyst pre-packaging machine, and Pyxis.
• Assist with receiving pharmaceutical supplies and preparing pharmaceutical orders.
• Assist with repackaging unit-dose solid and liquid medications.
• Maintain and file appropriate records according to Roswell Park policies and procedures.
