Pharmacy Intern

CVS Health•Las Cruces, NM

About The Position

CVS Health’s 3rd year Pharmacy Interns apply pharmacy-school learning in a retail pharmacy setting and prepare for increasing responsibility and a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, interns complete a comprehensive training roadmap involving Key Learning Experiences, practical activities, and time with district leaders, while gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations. They support pharmacy operations so prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and patients receive caring service. Interns learn to follow Standard Operating Procedures, pharmacy best practices, and effective communication, while helping foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. As experience grows, interns take on more responsibility for the safety and effectiveness of pharmacy operations. They follow workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off; assist patients with empathy; and, when appropriate and under a licensed pharmacist’s direct supervision, offer counseling, field medical questions, and gather medical histories. Depending on state law, duties may include taking or clarifying telephonic prescriptions, supporting immunizations and other health services, and assisting with inventory. Where permitted, interns may complete additional training and licensure requirements to support vaccine preparation and administration. They must comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies, including requirements related to patient safety, controlled substances, recordkeeping, privacy, and security. This is a part-time position. The typical pay range is $20.00–$23.75. Eligible benefits and programs may include dental and vision coverage, wellness resources, employee discounts, and certain voluntary benefits, depending on hours worked and eligibility. The anticipated application window closes January 9, 2027.
