The Pharmacy Intern assists pharmacists in providing timely, accurate, and safe medication therapy to patients. Routine functions are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and may include medication preparation and dispensing, unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixtures, sterile and nonsterile compounding, inventory control, record keeping, billing, and use of automated pharmacy technology. Interns may take on increasingly clinical responsibilities as their ability, experience, and performance develop, always under pharmacist supervision. The role includes supporting medication preparation, labeling, dispensing, counseling, delivery, and documentation; using aseptic technique and correct calculations; and assisting with drug information and inventory management. Clinical responsibilities may include medication reconciliation, adverse drug event reviews, renal dosing, medication utilization reviews, patient rounds, educational presentations, and other duties assigned by a preceptor. This is a casual (PRN), part-time position with a rotating shift and flexible scheduling, offering hands-on experience and a structured pathway for professional growth and development within the pharmacy department.
