The Pharmacy Clinical Services Supervisor is responsible for obtaining and maintaining pharmacy residency accreditation through ASHP, coordinating accreditation preparation and visits, and assembling/chairing the Residency Advisory Committee (RAC). This role collaborates with the RAC to develop training and competency programs for pharmacists, residents, students, and technicians. The supervisor establishes preceptor development guidelines, participates in resident recruitment and selection, and monitors program outcomes. Additionally, the role involves scholarly activities, strategic planning for residency and clinical pharmacy services, and coordinating training for clinical pharmacists. The supervisor ensures compliance with medical staff bylaws for clinical privileging, develops affirmative action plans, and monitors progress. Key responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating drug therapy, performing pharmaceutical compounding, screening prescriptions, evaluating medication orders for appropriateness, and providing patient-centered services. The role also involves dispensing medications accurately, monitoring outcomes, participating in medication reconciliation and interdisciplinary rounds, and advising healthcare providers on medication-related issues. Routine duties include providing pharmaceutical care and public health services in various community settings, offering individualized patient counseling, assisting in educational programs, and contributing to quality improvement and medication safety efforts. Documentation of clinical interventions, quality assurance, and medication error prevention is crucial. The pharmacist oversees pharmacy technicians, supports continuous improvement, and performs administrative functions such as policy development, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. Participation in pharmacy audits, controlled substance regulation monitoring, and staff training is expected. The pharmacist may serve on committees as a subject matter expert and must complete required training, maintain licensure, and participate in performance reviews. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor are also part of this role.
