About The Position

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the Pharmacist and Pharmacy team in improving community health by providing customer service to patients. The role involves greeting patients, responding to their needs, processing payments, handling communications and records, and assisting with refills as assigned. The position is full-time, based at the Colville Pharmacy in Colville, Washington, and is a day-shift role. Travel may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State Pharmacy Assistant license.
• Computer skills and the ability to learn new software and office tools.
• Ability to spell accurately.
• Ability to clearly communicate information to patients and gather information from them.
• Basic math skills to calculate patient payments.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients promptly, determine their needs, and relay appropriate information to the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician.
• Collect insurance co-pays when applicable and verify patient demographic information.
• Operate the cash register and reconcile daily receipts according to established guidelines.
• Direct patients to the pharmacist for counseling on all new prescriptions and for refills when the pharmacist deems necessary.
• Answer telephone calls professionally, take messages, and refer callers to appropriate individuals.
• Handle mail, correspondence, copying, and filing for Pharmacy staff.
• Assist with refills as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
