About The Position

This is a full-time rotating-shift inpatient clinical staff pharmacist position at UVMMC’s Medical Center Main Campus. Clinical Staff Pharmacists are integrated members of the multidisciplinary care team and provide pharmacy services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other medical staff. They support antimicrobial stewardship, medication safety, and optimized pharmaceutical dosing; assist with medication histories; monitor drug therapies; and provide drug information. The role includes interpreting and evaluating medication orders and prescriptions for validity and safety, as well as integrating clinical pharmacy knowledge with dispensing and order-review activities. The pharmacist performs core clinical activities such as order verification, pharmacokinetics, IV-to-PO conversions, and therapeutic interchange. Pharmacists work closely with support staff and provide direction as needed. In the absence of a leader, they may assume essential leadership responsibilities. They may participate in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical initiatives, provide direct patient care and education or training, and serve as preceptors to ASHP-accredited pharmacy residents and pharmacy students. UVMMC inpatient pharmacy operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Clinical Staff Pharmacists work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays. Patient populations include oncology, surgery, medicine, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, adult and pediatric critical care, emergency medicine, peri-operative care, psychology, same-day infusions, renal care, and rehabilitation; several services are provided in unit-based settings.
