About The Position

The Pharmacist creates an outstanding customer experience and inspires associates to deliver excellent service. The role maintains a safe, clean pharmacy environment, achieves department sales and profit goals, controls quality assurance standards and expenses, and schedules and staffs technicians to meet business needs. The pharmacist monitors department functions and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

The pharmacist fulfills prescription needs accurately, provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care, and administers vaccines as needed. The position ensures legal and company-policy compliance, including HIPAA; oversees pharmacy operations, inventory, records, security, equipment, and staffing; and maintains a professional, organized, and sanitary pharmacy. The role also supports customers with varied needs, resolves issues cooperatively, and continually develops pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
• Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

• One year of retail experience.
• Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill customers’ prescription needs, concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
• Administer vaccines as needed.
• Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
• Ensure pharmacies comply with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
• Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
• Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
• Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
• Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
• Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
• Ensure appropriate use of accuracy tools, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
• Maintain records required for legal compliance, company policies, accounting policies, and requested reports.
• Keep the work area clean, neat, organized, and sanitary, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
• Handle product returns promptly and according to company policy.
• Maintain equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
• Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment; verify staff members know how to use them.
• Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and services signs, pharmacists’ photographs and names, and other requested signs.
• Make a continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
