About The Position

The Pharmacist fulfills customers’ prescription needs with a focus on accuracy, administers vaccines as needed, and provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care. The role helps ensure the pharmacy complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA, and maintains a safe, clean, professional environment. The Pharmacist monitors department operations, supports customer service, and works toward department sales and profit goals while controlling expenses and maintaining quality standards. The position also involves scheduling and staffing technicians to meet business needs, maintaining inventory and records, and ensuring pharmacy equipment and procedures are used appropriately.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers’ prescription needs while concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
Administer vaccines as needed.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure pharmacies comply with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Use accuracy tools appropriately, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
Establish and maintain record-keeping practices necessary for legal compliance, company and accounting policies, and requested reports.
Maintain a clean, neat work area, including work counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify staff knowledge of their use.
Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacists’ photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Inspire associates to deliver excellent customer service and help establish and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return.
Achieve department sales and profit goals, control established quality assurance standards and expenses, and properly schedule and staff technicians to meet business needs.
