About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist provides accurate prescription services, patient counseling, and pharmaceutical care while supporting an outstanding customer experience. The role helps achieve department sales and profit goals, maintains quality assurance standards, controls expenses, and schedules and staffs technicians to meet business needs. It also monitors department functions and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The pharmacist ensures legal and company-policy compliance, including HIPAA requirements, and oversees pharmacy operations such as inventory, records, security, sanitation, equipment, pricing, returns, budgets, and product recalls. The role maintains a clean, professional pharmacy environment, promotes positive relationships with customers, associates, and vendors, and continually develops pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
Ability to speak, read, and/or write a second language.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers’ prescription needs with a focus on prescription accuracy.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure the pharmacy complies with local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Promote a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain appropriate records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Use accuracy tools appropriately, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
Maintain records required for legal compliance, company policies, accounting policies, and requested reports.
Keep work areas clean, neat, sanitary, and organized, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Handle product returns promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain computers, printers, accuracy scanners, cash registers, and other equipment in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and ensure staff know how to use them.
Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacist photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
