About The Position

The Pharmacist Intern works with pharmacists and technicians to support patient care, prescription processing, and customer service under the pharmacist’s direct supervision. The position requires a minimum of 10 working hours per week and two weekend shifts per month. The intern also assists with inventory counts at least once per year, participates in pharmacy staff meetings, and completes assigned training within established timeframes. Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in a School of Pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

Retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with pharmacists and technicians to ensure proper patient care for prescriptions and customer service.
Assist with prescription drug orders, including transfers, phoned-in prescriptions, and voicemails, under the pharmacist’s direct supervision.
Communicate clearly and concisely with patients, clinicians, and medical providers.
Assist with immunizations as allowed by law.
Help patients obtain medication and confirm their ability to afford it before they reach the pharmacy.
Perform the prescription-filling process.
Assist with point-of-sale tasks.
Help clarify drug orders and communicate with physicians and providers’ offices.
Work a minimum of 10 hours per week and the required two weekend shifts per month.
Assist with quarterly and/or annual inventory counts, at least once per year.
Participate in pharmacy staff meetings and complete assigned training within established timeframes.
Assist with inventory management, including controlled drugs, as required by law.
Work cooperatively with other staff.
Assist with pharmacy compounding as required by law and policy.
Provide patient information and counseling.
Comply with all policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
