About The Position

The PH Nurse Supervisor exercises line supervision over multiple registered nurses, including training, scheduling, formally evaluating performance, and issuing discipline. The role also provides direct professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools. Duties include conducting nursing assessments; performing laboratory tests and taking measurements as appropriate; developing and implementing care plans; administering medication; and providing case management. Actions at this level require licensure as a registered nurse under state code.

Requirements

• Registered nurse licensure as required by state code.
• Knowledge and demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff in public health nursing and population health.
• Knowledge of grants, case management, ambulatory clinic services, and agencies or programs that support underserved and underinsured populations.
• Knowledge of public and community health principles and nursing and health care programs.
• Knowledge of nursing theories related to improving community health.
• Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
