About The Position

The Petroleum Sales and Delivery Service Specialist role combines sales, logistics, and technical support, ensuring customers receive high-quality petroleum products and exceptional service. The specialist will be responsible for managing customer relationships, selling petroleum products, and safely delivering fuel, lubricants, and related services to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional training in sales, logistics, or the petroleum industry preferred.
  • Previous experience in petroleum sales, delivery, or fuel distribution preferred.
  • Familiarity with fuel products, delivery procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional demeanor.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with teammates at all levels.
  • Ability to identify and address issues in a proactive manner.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and teammates.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Demonstrated core competencies, including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
  • Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.

  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
  • The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training, including education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training related to the position’s requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Market and deliver energy products and services at profitable levels to patrons and target prospects in designated territory.
  • Show a caring attitude towards the individual and the individual's operation.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the customer's operations, needs, concerns, and goals.

  • Work together as a key member within the Prairieland FS Team.
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude while developing strong relationships with customers, understanding their fuel and lubricant needs.
  • Educate customers on fuel storage best practices, environmental compliance, and safety regulations.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting assistance for fuel storage systems and dispensing equipment.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations regarding petroleum product handling and transportation.
  • Utilize and always work to improve the FS Sales interview road map.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base within the assigned territory.
  • Understand customer behavior styles.
  • Assist in competitive analysis and strategies in your trade territory.
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and with appropriate procedures.
  • Adhere to and support the company credit policy, checking credit history of patrons before making sales, and explaining the credit policy to new customers.
  • Collect on accounts as needed according to the credit policy. Support the efforts of the Ag-Finance/Credit Manager.
  • Thank your customer for their past and future business.
  • Communicate marketing programs and deliver sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.
  • Establish a route system in the delivery territory and deliver petroleum products according to customer requirements.
  • Utilize various seasonal product fill programs.
  • Maintain accurate customer files, including tank information, sales delivery dates, and other pertinent details, while recording sales and delivery information on daily sales logs to ensure all transactions are properly documented in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Prepare order forms and sales contracts/bookings.
  • Submit required reports promptly as requested by supervisor and communicate activities in trade territory on a regular basis.
  • Report monthly inventory and use controls to ensure no loss of product.
  • Wear FS Shirt and outerwear at all times on the job.
  • Wear FS hat if one is worn.
  • Ensure trucks are clean inside and out.
  • Maintain the company vehicle by performing basic maintenance as needed and conducting routine inspections of delivery equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Work towards professional certification (EA/EMS).
  • Work towards achieving the Annual Sales Program and other company programs.
  • Attend training sessions and sales meetings.
  • Keep up to date on technical information and changes within the industry.
  • Provide assistance to other departments on an as-needed basis and continue to support all other areas of our business when all other assigned work is complete.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of this facility.
