About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Petroleum Lab Technician for its Caleb Brett team at the Sulphur, Louisiana facility. Caleb Brett provides cargo inspection and analytical assessment services to the oil and gas, chemical, and other commodities markets. The role performs chemical and physical tests in multiple test areas using ASTM methods or accepted industry standards. It also supports laboratory equipment, reagents, records, supplies, safety, quality, and housekeeping activities.

Requirements

Demonstrate the ability to multitask in high-production testing areas.
Possess good math and observation skills.
Demonstrate proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry laboratory processes.
Demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation.
Demonstrate the ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures.
Demonstrate the ability to use non-complex and complex instrumentation.
Be able to work overtime as business needs dictate.
Be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 49 pounds.
Be able to stand for prolonged periods.
Have previous exposure to various chemicals on the job.
Have two years of laboratory experience in a petrochemical lab.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
College-level coursework in Chemistry.
Experience operating Octane Engines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

Perform chemical and physical tests in multiple test areas using ASTM methods or accepted industry standards.
Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
Clean glassware and test equipment.
Assist with preparing reagents as needed.
Record data on appropriate data sheets and report data to the LIMS system.
Maintain quality records, control charts, and laboratory supply inventories.
Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
Participate in cross-training as needed.
