About The Position

Graham Packaging is seeking a PET Process Engineer with extensive experience in processing new technology heatset and/or lightweight preferential packages. This role requires the ability to direct bottle and preform designs and serve as an industry expert and technical resource for Graham’s PET package development team. The position is based at Graham Packaging’s Global Technical Center in York, PA, with the possibility of remote work.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of barrier technologies and processing methodology.
  • Expert heat-set processing skills and hot fill process knowledge and/or preferential heating.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, data analysis, and statistical process control.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with PDCA and effective problem-solving.
  • BS degree in Engineering (Plastic engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience developing blow molding processes to support new markets and product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop production processes for new product commercialization and generate Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs).
  • Optimize production processes and established operational limits for key process variables on new technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process engineering standard work, SOPs, and tools to support process development.
  • Provide remote plant processing support via phone.
  • Develop processing standards for new two-step technology.
  • Establish SOPs for quality inspection equipment (e.g., AGR profiler, PressCo, vision inspection systems).
  • Set up inputs for the Infinity Quality system for SOC elements and extract data for problem-solving and process setups.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to OEM blow molding equipment.
  • Create technical reports, including design recommendations for bottle and preform improvements.
  • Backfill for the New Product Development Engineer onsite for small to moderate qualifications.
