About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Human Resources. The mission of the Human Resources Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to recruit, develop, and retain a skilled and diverse workforce dedicated to supporting the Department's mission. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves. The Florida Department of Corrections is looking for a Personnel Services Specialist-OPS to join the Office of Human Resources at the Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida. This role involves performing a range of independent professional technical tasks for the Payroll Department.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess customer service experience.
  • Must possess experience working a professional office setting.
  • Must possess two years of professional human resources/personnel experience in payroll, and attendance and leave.
  • Must possess experience reviewing and processing information from multiple documents and various sources to prepare an official document.
  • Must possess at least 6 months experience in FLAIR.

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll/ Accounting experience.
  • Experience working in the State of Florida's People First System.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Payroll, Attendance and Leave, FMLA, Military, separations, audits, overpayments, warrant cancellations, on-demand payments.
  • Conducts advanced research in preparation of special projects and reports as assigned by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Performs high-level administrative functions within the Payroll Office including managing the Payroll Inbox for the Payroll Team.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Institutional and Field staff to ensure the accuracy of actions being processed.
  • Assisting with the coordination of the Department’s response to both internal and external audits related to the Office of Human Resources when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
