About The Position

The Care Company is a home health care company dedicated to creating 'A Better Life for Those at Home' by helping seniors live well in their own homes and make each day count. We are seeking dedicated and self-driven Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide essential care and support to clients throughout the Toronto/GTA area, with a specific focus on weekend availability. This is a 24/7 business, and we require support across all shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, and holidays. We are looking for individuals committed to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule.

Requirements

• Must be available WEEKENDS.
• Must be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future.
• Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day.
• PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or International nursing/doctorate Certification.
• Negative TB Test completed within the last year.
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.
• Valid WHMIS2015 Certificate of Completion.
• COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code.
• Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria REQUIRED.
• Immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly urged.
• Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
• Requires good judgment, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

• A valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work.
• Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans.
• Offer companionship and perform light housekeeping duties to help clients remain in their homes.
• Prepare meals according to client and/or family requests, demonstrating flexibility with different cuisines.
• Adhere to providing personal care and assisting clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker.
• Assist clients with hygiene, bathing, grooming, and linen changes.
• Support clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises.
• Ensure client safety by using equipment safely and properly.
• Function within the limits of personal experience and knowledge, practicing safely and competently within the job description.
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators as needed.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
