About The Position
The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay has a rewarding opportunity for a Personal Support Worker. This role reports to the Clinical Manager and participates as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents. The Personal Support Worker provides basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program. They encourage and support resident participation in activities of daily living, provide input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans, and participate in resident care conferences. The role also involves reporting changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documenting as per policy, as well as participating in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker or developmental services worker program; or Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program.
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary.
- Certification in CPR
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
