About The Position
Andwell Health Partners is hiring a Personal Support Specialist for its GUIDE (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience) program, a pilot initiative supporting people living with dementia and their caregivers. The role provides compassionate, dementia-informed respite care and meaningful companionship during scheduled four-hour visits, helping caregivers rest and recharge while supporting participants in their homes and communities. The service area is Bangor, Maine, and surrounding towns; the work setting is community-based. It offers flexible scheduling, free training, career ladder opportunities, and organizational support. The position is per diem, with part-time status also available.
Requirements
- Certified Personal Support Specialist (PSS) credential.
- Experience working with individuals living with dementia.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation and auto insurance.
- Compassionate, patient, and caring demeanor.
- Interest in helping people live healthier, happier, and more connected lives.
Responsibilities
- Provide dementia-informed caregiving, companionship, and support to clients in their homes.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities such as reading, games, conversation, and walks.
- Support personal care and hygiene.
- Assist with mobility.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance.
- Offer respite to caregivers through scheduled visits.
