Personal Support Specialist - Paid Training - Full and Part Time Positions

About The Position

The Personal Support Specialist encourages personal growth through goal-based support and provides daily living assistance to KIM clients in their homes and in the community. The role involves motivating and encouraging adults with developmental disabilities as they work toward their goals, in accordance with the Residential Service Guidelines. Full-time and part-time positions are available, with paid training. Pay is $17.50–$19.50 per hour.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Intermediate experience supporting living, preferably with adults with developmental disabilities or other disabilities.
At least 18 years of age.
Criminal background check must be cleared before working alone and unsupervised with clients.
Valid driver’s license or State ID.
Ability to follow instructions, organize, and set priorities.
Strong communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking, and reading comprehension.
Ability to engage in critical thinking.

Responsibilities

Help clients use emotional and behavioral regulation techniques outlined in their individual plans.
Support clients in achieving personal and program goals and evaluate goal completions and denials.
Assist clients with money management, including petty cash, receipts, checkbooks, and EBTs.
Assist with daily hygiene and personal care as outlined in individual care plans, including brushing teeth, bathing, washing hair, and toileting.
Administer the correct medications and document medication activity, including nurse-delegated tasks.
Transport clients to and from activities and appointments, or arrange transportation services as appropriate.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly forms, reports, and data sheets.
Supervise clients’ daily activities and living conditions to ensure adequate health and safety.
Assist clients with cooking and eating meals and with grocery shopping.
