About The Position

The Personal Shopper works at an American Girl retail location and reports directly to the Assistant Department Manager. This role provides customers with a high level of personalized service through client development, creating positive experiences for clients and their families. The position calls for a high-energy, positive, organized, efficient, flexible, and team-oriented individual. The role takes place in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment and includes working evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Requirements

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Availability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Nice To Haves

High school degree or equivalent preferred.
Two to three years of work experience, specifically in sales and client development, preferred.
Experience working with a broad and diverse workforce and customer base, including children, preferred.
Demonstrated growth mindset, including curiosity, continuous learning, embracing challenges, and self-improvement.

Responsibilities

Provide personalized premium customer service by listening actively, anticipating needs, sharing product, dining, and store-experience knowledge, offering suggestions, addressing objections, closing sales, and responding to special requests.
Build a client base and foster client relationships by optimizing selling opportunities.
Communicate regularly with clients by phone and written correspondence, including scheduling appointments.
Maintain client information in an organized manner.
Meet or exceed personal and department sales goals.
Build rapport with coworkers and offer assistance as needed.
Mentor store staff by sharing product knowledge and selling techniques.
Assist with training new employees in the department.
