About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a Personal Property Tax Associate whose primary role will be to work with clients and internal teams to adhere to jurisdictional requirements for personal property tax compliance. The role is based in Rockwall, TX - 10 miles east of Dallas, Texas. The ideal candidate is a technical, detail-oriented, team player that can work in an extremely fast-paced environment under deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or business
  • 0-3 Years of Consulting experience in the Business Personal Property industry or Relevant County Appraisal District Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a strong preference for providing financial analysis support in a consulting environment
  • Deadline driven, high degree of energy and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication skills, with the proven ability to coherently express complex concepts both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file personal property tax returns and renditions across multiple jurisdictions in accordance with applicable deadlines
  • Reconcile client asset lists, fixed asset registers, and financial data to ensure renditions reflect accurate and complete information
  • Monitor filing calendars and ensure all returns are submitted on time, including tracking extension requests where applicable
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready workpapers and documentation for all assigned accounts
  • Review personal property tax assessments for accuracy upon receipt
  • Identify assessment discrepancies and prepare protests or appeals where values are unsupported
  • Represent client interests in informal hearings and formal appeals before appraisal review boards
  • Respond to and manage audits initiated by taxing authorities, including gathering documentation and coordinating responses
  • Work with raw asset data to complete depreciation schedules, value calculations, and trending analyses
  • Research comparable market data to support protest positions
  • Identify assets that may qualify for exemptions, exclusions, or reduced valuation treatment and apply accordingly
  • Stay current on changes to personal property tax laws, exemptions, and filing requirements across relevant jurisdictions (with particular focus on Texas)
