About The Position

Western National Insurance is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriting Intern to join its Personal Lines Underwriting team as part of the Summer 2027 Internship Program. This role offers the opportunity to directly assist the Underwriting team with a wide range of projects related to the writing of Personal Insurance policies. The internship program is designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry, offering practical, hands-on opportunities and project work. Interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Requirements

Completed two years of college preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
Ability to follow established processes and procedures
Effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Intermediate experience with Word and Excel required
Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN

Responsibilities

Helping maintain accurate rating and coverage on Personal Lines policies
Partnering with underwriting and other departments to modify renewal business as needed
Assessing replacement cost value for property business
Reviewing property inspections and recommending appropriate actions
Update policy information as new details emerge
Communication with agency force regarding changes or requests for information
